Scarborough Rotary Club is thrilled to welcome our newest inbound Rotary Youth Exchange student, Rebecca Cavanga, who has travelled all the way from Torino, Italy, to spend time with us here in Western Australia.
Hosting an international student is always a highlight for the club, and we are incredibly excited to show Rebecca everything that Perth and our vibrant coastal community have to offer.
Building Global Understanding
There is a well-known adage within our community that suggests if every young person had the opportunity to participate in a Rotary Youth Exchange, there would be no more wars.
While it is a bold statement, it perfectly captures the core philosophy behind the initiative. The Rotary Youth Exchange is not simply about travel; it is about building genuine cultural understanding. By immersing young people in a new culture, a new language, and a new community, we help break down borders and build lifelong connections.
When students like Rebecca share their Italian heritage with us, and we in turn share our local Western Australian lifestyle with her, it creates a ripple effect of mutual respect and global fellowship.
The Year Ahead
Over the coming months, Rebecca will be attending school locally, participating in club events, and exploring the very best of WA with her host families. From our iconic coastline to our unique local wildlife, we cannot wait to see our home through her eyes.
