Dr Jaap Poll is a very interesting man ... he studied in Holland , where he obtained a BSC , MSC and a PHD in Structural Geology from the University of Leiden . He has both Dutch and Australian passports and speaks 6 languages . He commenced his career in the oil industry with Shell and worked in Central America , Europe ,the Middle East and Australia .  In 1973 Jaap joined Woodside in Melbourne and moved to Perth in 1980 to set up a Canadian company .  In 1992 , Jaap was appointed CEO of Oil Search in Port Moresby where he joined Rotary . Since 1994 , Jaap has assisted companies acquiring petroleum interests worldwide . Jaap obtained several '' Best Paper '' awards and was awarded Distinguished Life Membership of the Australian Petroleum Society . He was awarded the Australian '' Legend '' statu by '' Excellence in Energy '' .

Jaap is an Accredited Arbitrator and Mediator ( Uni of Adelaide ) and is an active Rotarian since 1992 .
