NEXT  MEETING  Tuesday 6th February 2018 -  5:30pm for 6.00pm

Vanessa is a 19 year old woman who is both deaf and blind.  While Ms Vlajkovic was born blind, her hearing did not begin to deteriorate until she was seven.  She learnt braille at 4 and two years ago switched off from the hearing world.  Due to her limited vision, the Auslan is ‘tactile’ meaning the signs are formed on Vanessa’s hands.

CHANGE OF MEETING TIME, DATE & VENUE

Dear Scarborough Rotary Club Member,

You will recall that our Club along with the Osborne Park Rotary Club helped support the 2016 Young Western Australian of the year Vanessa Vlajkovic. Vanessa is an inspiring young lady – being both deaf and blind – she presented at an International Conference in Denmark – talking about ways to help other young people in her situation. Vanessa is an inspiring speaker.

We have an unique opportunity to hear her speak and join with the Osborne Park Club – on Tuesday 6th February at Central Park, St. George’s Terrace in the City – 5.30 for 6.00pm. This is not far from the William Street train station, and parking is available at central park at reasonable costs. The cost of the evening is only $ 20 per head – including drinks and nibbles.

This meeting will take the place of our Thursday meeting at Karrinyup that has been cancelled by the Golf Club.

We need to provide Osborne Park Rotary Club with numbers by Sunday 4th February – please consider coming to hear a remarkable story from an inspiring young lady.
