Letter From Norway (Liza Kneebone)

March

My first few days of March were spent relaxing in my host family’s small mountain cabin. Days were spent reading, skiing and playing cards. We spent few days on the day we arrived collected the fire wood left out to dry over the winter, and then coffee, OUTSIDE in the sunshine. It’s amazing what a difference no wind can have on how cold you feel; -3 and wind is far worse than a still day at -10! But the sun was out and we were warm. As there was limited electricity at the cabin, we didn't use light at night and instead used candles, and the dim lights and a hard day’s work has me in bed everyday around 9:30pm. The days repeat this was, wake up, eat breakfast, read or draw, ski in the afternoon once it was slightly warm, and relax reading drawing and playing cards until late after dinner. While had a nice time, I did get bored by the final day and was happy to return home.
