Meeting of 15th February 
The meeting was opened by President Mike who welcomed all including our guests, Mike Helm from Toastmasters and past exchange student Adele from France, Chris Bayes and prospective new member Henji.
 
Announcements
 
Jerry Pilcher showed the club an article in this month’s Rotary Down under regarding the club on pages 22 and 23.  Jerry also gave a small speech regarding the 4 way speaking test and tree project.
 
Joe Angi asked any members that require a tee shirt to put their orders in as he will place the order soon.
 
Adele gave a presentation on what she had been up to for the last 4 years, with her journeys around Europe and career.  Adele is soon moving to "Sunny" Majorca for a three month internship, it was great to see her friendly smile and all the club members enjoyed hearing her story.
 
RYE Flyn gave a review on what he had been doing for the last 2 weeks, with going back to school and enjoying time with his friends.
 
The Wood Duck was award to Paul Levi in absentium for sending in 4 containers of film that were blank for developing and then wondering why they came back blank.
 
SwapMart:  Not reported today but there was considerable discussion on whether PP Brian Richards had missed counting all the monies from last weeks takings!!!!
 
Sgt Peter Simpson was them let loose on the masses present

Guest Speaker
Mike Helm then gave a presentation on Toastmasters including ;
 
- The setting up of new clubs in Perth including "Electric Toasters" in Western Power.
- Toastmasters goes back 2000 years to when the Christian spoke to the lion before he was about to eat him and made the lion run off in fear when
  He heard he would have to make an after dinner speech.
- Toastmasters were founded in 1924 in California to help men get jobs and gain confidence in Public Speaking.
- After 10 years there were 10 Clubs and today has over 16000 clubs in 140 countries with 350k members.
- Started in 1956 in Australia and 1974 in Perth May lands.
- David Taggart then gave a vote of thanks and when requested by Neil Grant gave a review of David’s Presentation.
