Presentation: Heinji Daquin presented President Mike with a large donation of money that he has been collecting from customers at one of his Red Rooster stores for Rotary projects.

Swapmart Report: Not given but  takings of $3546 and 210 bays sold

Club Forum:

President Mike explained that we were to vote today on the acceptance of the revised Club By-Laws put together by Dave Taylor, Rob Collins, Hugh Frost and Jerry Pilcher. The number of members in attendance represented a quorum and after having put the motion to members, the motion was accepted by in excess of the required two thirds majority.
[The club ByLaws are now on the Club Website & can be accessed by Clicking HERE   You must logon to the site]

Mike then went on to say that we could not vote today on the motion sent out yesterday to members concerning recurrent funding of Wheelchairs for Kids, as sufficient notice (as required by the Constitution) was not given. He did say however that the matter could be discussed today and would be voted on in three weeks’ time.

Treasurer Guy Lehmann presented a Profit and Loss Statement from Wheelchairs for Kids to members explaining various sections including the Cash Flow Statement.

Jim Joseph, Gordon Hudson and Di Godson spoke for the recommended motion to commit future Boards to future priority funding to WFK.
Di Godson also queried what was happening with the Rotary Club of Scarborough Trust as she had not heard any reports since she had been back in the Club. Bill Nuttall advised her that he reported monthly to the Board at Board meetings and that it was up to Directors to update the committee members on Board minutes at their committee meetings.

Dave Taylor and Paul Barfoot spoke against the motion stating that they did not disagree with future funding for WFK (or to funding for the other projects mentioned in yesterday’s email), but that it was their opinions that it should be the decision of future Boards to make their own decisions and not have expenditure forced upon them.

Peter Whyte made the observation that the Board of the Rotary Club of Scarborough cannot direct the Rotary Club of Scarborough Trust to make a donation to another organisation. Rather, the RCS Board can request the RCST to make a donation and it is the RCST that makes the decision.

Chase the Ace: Bill Nuttall won the bottle of wine but not chase the ace.

Closing:  There being no further business, President Mike closed the Club Forum.
