Alex will explore how consumer behaviour underpins modern marketing and how organisations can apply these principles with integrity in an increasingly complex marketplace.
Alejandro Martínez did not set out to study consumer behaviour. He set out to design products and take better photographs.
Originally from South America and based in Perth since 2011, Alex is the founder of Pixel Group Australia, a creative and marketing consultancy built on clarity, strategy and measurable outcomes. His academic foundation includes a five year Industrial Design degree equivalent to an Australian Bachelor qualification, along with a formal diploma in packaging design. This blend of analytical training and practical design thinking shaped his early career and continues to inform his approach to branding and communication.
He began in photography and videography, collaborating with Soñar Despierto, a Spanish / South American organisation similar in spirit to Make A Wish Foundation. Those early experiences reinforced a belief that stories matter, that people matter. Over time, working closely with clients across industries, he recognised that marketing success rarely hinges on aesthetics alone. It rests on values, understanding consumer behaviour: how people form trust, how attention is captured, and why decisions are ultimately made. His work evolved from producing content to designing communication grounded in behavioural insight and aligned with clear principles.
Under the Pixel Group umbrella, Alex also leads Yesterdays Photo, a high end photo restoration and archival brand, and Video Testimonials, a platform dedicated to structured social proof and authentic client storytelling. Across these ventures, the common thread is clarity of message and integrity of execution.
An avid reader with a long standing interest in philosophy and human decision making, Alex believes values are not decorative statements but operational principles that shape every decision within a company and resonate with clients over time.
Outside work, he is a certified Rescue Diver, a committed guitarist, and the proud father of two remarkable girls. Whether underwater, on stage, at home, or advising a business owner, he is drawn to environments that demand focus, responsibility and thoughtful action.

Club Meeting 12th February 2026
We heard an interesting talk from Geoffrey Kingsford from Prison Fellowship Australia who seek to support prisoners and their families to restore their lives.
Geoff described his life and the work and impact of Prison Fellowship Australia. It's not widely understood that there are approximately 47,000 people in prison in Australia. The impact of incarceration on their lives, and their families' lives, can be profound.
Initially starting in the United States, the organisation has been going for over 45 years and worked with over 200,000 inmates and 100,000 families.

The club was fortunate to hear from Linda Aitken, the Mayor of the City of Wanneroo who spoke about her career and lessons in leadership.
Club Meeting 5th February 2026
Community Director Jerry Pilcher provided an update on what the Community Service Team has been doing this year.
To date the committee has had a hand in directing over $18,000 to various causes including $5,000 to Clinikids, $1,500 to Mama Respond, $5,000 to Life Education and $3,000 to Men's Talk among others.
The club has also purchased 40 $25 fuel cards for people fleeing domestic violence through No Limits Perth.
Congratulations Fred Marsh
Congratulations to the remarkable Fred Marsh who is this year celebrating 60 years as a member of Rotary.
Fred's Rotary career has seen multiple highlights including serving as Past District Governor and Past President of the Rotary Club of Scarborough.
Fred was instrumental in formulating the 4-way test public speaking competition for school students and is still very active organising this competition and engaging with local schools. Truly an inspiration.
Fred really does epitomise the Rotary ethos of "Service above Self".
Scarborough Rotary welcomes new Member.
From one of the oldest Rotary members to one of the youngest! The Rotary Club of Scarborough is proud to have welcomed its newest member Christian Merritt.
Christian is the youngest of 3 brothers. His father is a semi-retired Insurance broker and his mother works as a hospital administrator. He was born in Kalamunda and attended school at Guildford Grammar School and Scotch College, interspersed with a period in Hong Kong.
Christian is in his final year of an undergraduate degree in History and Economics at Curtin University and enjoys reading, discussing current affairs and playing and composing music.
He is aiming to pursue a career in the public sector focusing on public policy and sustainability.
Welcome Christian.
Rotary Youth Exchange
Applications are now open for students aged 15 to 18 and a half (at the time of departure) to spend 12 months as a Rotary Exchange Student in 2027.
Applications close on 24 March 2026 and more information can be obtained via the following QR code.
There is the potential for a scholarship to assist students with the cost of the exchange in some circumstances.
Meanwhile, our current inbound exchange student, Manu from Brazil, has been helping out at the club's swapmart and enjoying getting up close with local wildlife.
The Chase the Ace jackpot continues to build and odds of winning continue to improve.
The jackpot is now up to $812.10 and there are only 6 cards left, so well worth buying some tickets at the next meeting.
Don't forget to support the Karrinyup swapmart. This is our club's major fundraiser and enables us to do the projects we do.

Thank you to Samson Court
The residents of Samson Court in Duncraig have been long time supporters of Wheelchairs for Kids. Each year Samson Court is lit up with spectacular Christmas Lights by the residents attracting thousands of people who come to enjoy the show.
The residents are kind enough to collect money from the visitors and in 2025 collected $36,900 all of which is donated to WheelChairs for Kids.
The project was initiated by long time club member Alan Bennett and his wife Tookta has generated hundreds of thousands of dollars for WheelChairs for Kids over the years.
Recently Wheelchairs for Kids held a sundowner to thank the residents of Samson Court who have so generously contributed their time and effort for the benefit of Wheelchairs for Kids and the wider community.

The Rotary International convention in 2026 will be held in Taipei. Taiwan from 13-17 June.
