Suzanne has a wealth of behind-the-scenes secret stories. Interviewing leaders of war-torn countries. Viewing and recording first-hand child rescues both within Australia and Asia. Travelling with Prime Ministers from Fraser to Rudd. Advice on how to deal with the manipulative media. Not a glamour job. Once chased around the studios of the ABC and throttled over an award-winning documentary. “Asbestos of Wittenoom”. Another Award for identifying the horror of Child Sexual abuse, internationally and within Australia. Tales of tears and trauma, but also fun and frivolity. Before working at HelpingMinds, Andrea was a mathematics teacher in the Hills teaching secondary students. While she loves maths, she is also passionate about wellbeing and neuroscience. As a member of the community with lived experience of recovery from mental-ill health, increasing mental health literacy is particularly meaningful for Andrea. When she is not out delivering Mental Health First Aid courses, you might see her running after her naughty poodle Banksy (named after the elusive Street Artist) and eating pasta with her Italian family. |

Phillip Skelton has enjoyed three careers: - in the Regular Army for 28 years; as a senior public servant for 16 years; and an independent telecommunications and broadcasting consultant for 8 years. His voluntary community service brings him much satisfaction. He has been a Director of such diverse organisations as a School Foundation, a Music Foundation, a Marriage and Family Counselling organization, and a television station. He has been Patron of three Police Recruit Squads. He maintains an active interest in national security and defence issues and in commemoration of Defence Force members who gave their lives in securing Australia’s interests. He was Deputy Warden of the State War Memorial for 7 years. Phillip is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Perth. He is a Past District Governor of District 9455, and now a Board member of Armadale Rotary in District 9465. For someone who has spent his life leading, working, and volunteering with people it is remarkable that top of his bucket list was to see the only continent with zero permanent residents! He is here to tell us about his fascinating expedition to Antarctica in 2017. |
