President Mike opened the meeting and welcomed all present to the meeting including guests, Lindsay Dry - District Governor, Graham Pedan - Assistant Governor and Belinda Jennings.
To quote President Mike the club then had "a bit of chat" while having breakfast.
SwapMart Report: Brian Richards then reported on Swapmart , being 282 bays sold for total revenue of $4452
Christmas Function: The club has organised a Christmas function on 16th December and Don and Helen Brookes house 6:30 for 7:00pm. A sheet was sent around for members to sign.
President Mike then introduced DG Lindsay Dry. Lindsey then made a presentation to the club. Lindsay joined Dalkeith Rotary in 2009 and has since been the President, Assist Governor, and run the club service committee. Lindsay made the comment that the Scarborough club has produced many district governors in the past number of years and should be proud of that achievement.
Overall membership in the Western World for Rotary has been dropping over the last 8 years. However, Asia is expanding and we could see the Rotary
organisation model move from Chicago to Tokyo. Lindsay then went on to describe the important attributes to keep a club membership growing.
-Vocal (Tell people what you do)
-Visual (Wear shirts and promote your programs and projects)
-Vital (Be an active and vital club)
-Fun (Have fun in the club)
-Fellowship (Create long term friendships)
-Formality (Dress appropriately)
-Active (Have many projects and make a difference to society)
Lindsay then closed his presentation by mentioning how successful the new generation’s project had been in the club and praised its creation.
Geoff Ivanac gave the vote of thanks and presented DG Lindsay with a few momentoes of his visit.
Chase the Ace: This week was won by Bob Phelps but alas, he did not draw the Ace of Spade.
The Jackpot now stands at $345. Considerably more next week when we have 100% attendance!!!
